Engaging with your fan-base is very important as the viewer feels welcomed and wants to come back to your videos. This can be from replying to YouTube comments to meeting up with your followers. I reply to every single comment & direct message, every single day, because I know how important it is to communicate with my audience. I just recently met up with 3 other YouTube channels last month and it was a great experience, I recommend you to try and go to events and just talk to all of your subscribers.
Making friends on YouTube is also very important. It is important to know that you should collaborate rather than compete. Collaborating will help you gain exposure from people who've never seen your videos before. It's a great way to have fun on this social media platform as well! You gain many contacts and learn so much by doing so.
Learning more & more as you go on is very important. Learn how to rank in the search by studying SEO tricks. Learn how to edit & record your videos to the best of your abilities because it does help a lot and add a lot of value to the end product. Watch tutorials (like mine) to discover editing tricks, new programs & different things that will help your content improve.
Don't focus on your stats (views, comments, likes, dislikes, money earned) because it will only distract you. Base your success by the production value of your content rather than numbers. You are more likely to have a better time on YouTube doing so and you'll be happier with yourself. It's a lot easier quitting when things aren't going right in terms of views, but your content will always improve as time goes on.
It is also very important to stay consistent. Similar to a TV show, people are expecting something. You should make a upload schedule so you have a good idea when to upload and when your viewers should be expecting a video. This is the key to having any success at all on YouTube and my work speaks to it. I have uploaded every week I've been on YouTube and it has done me very good.
Last of all, forget the haters. There will be people on this website that will hate on you for no reason. A lot of dislikes don't mean anything if just ONE person likes the video. If your video has entertained, taught or impacted ANYONE in a positive way, you should be happy. Ignore any hate comments because, 9/10 times the person commenting isn't serious and you shouldn't be either.
Good luck! :)
